Four Manly players chosen to represent Tonga

Four Manly Warringah Sea Eagles players have been named in the squad to represent Tonga in the upcoming Pacific Championships.

Lehi Hopoate, Tolu Koula, Haumole Olakau'atu, and Taniela Paseka will represent Tonga, who play their first match in the Pacific Cup against Australia at Suncorp Stadium on Friday, October 18.

The four will come up against Manly team-mate in Kangaroos player Tom Trbojevic.

Koula has played six Tests and Olakau'atu five Tests for Tonga respectively since making their international debuts together in 2022.

Olakau'atu had another strong season for the Sea Eagles that also saw him represent NSW for the first time in two games of the Blues' winning series.

It will be the first time Hopoate and Paseka have represented Tonga, a tremendous honour for them and their proud families.

Hopoate's selection caps off a superb year for the 19-year-old, who took out Manly's Ken Arthurson Rising Star Award for Rookie of the Year for his sensational debut season in the NRL.

A proud Manly junior who first joined the Sea Eagles Pathways program at the age of 12, Hopoate scored nine tries in 14 games this season and is set to have a long and successful career at the Sea Eagles.

Paseka was again a strong leader of the Sea Eagles pack in 2024, where he made close to 1400 run metres and made 41 tackle breaks in another fine season for the 26-year-old who has now played 120 games for Manly.
