We caught up with Maddison to learn more about her.
Player Profile
Name: Maddison Binding
DOB: 03/06/2003
Birthplace: Sydney, Australia
Position: Centre, Second row
Nickname: Maddie
What's your favorite rugby league memory growing up?
My first game in under 6s. I scored a try on the halfway line thinking it was the tryline.
Who are your favourite rugby league players in NRL or NRLW?
Gayle Broughton (NRLW) and Manly's own Haumole Olakau’atu
What does it mean to you to be part of the first Manly Harvey Norman’s Women’s team?
So much. I have always loved supporting the Sea Eagles and to now be able to play for the women’s team is crazy. I grew up around here in Manly and having to play for clubs such as the Sydney Roosters and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs never felt like home as much as Manly does.
Funniest team-mate?
Taylor Montgomery
What are your goals this season?
To be more confident in myself and realise how strong of a player I can be. To make new connections with team-mates, learn new things, and to have fun.
Tell us about your family and any special achievements?
My parents are Tahlia and Terry. I have three older brothers. Luke is the oldest and then I have two twin brothers, Mitch and Harry. We all still live locally except for Mitch, who is paramedic in New Zealand.
A special achievement for me would have been representing Australia in touch football. It was a thrilling memory for me. I also won the Tarsha Gale Cup with the Roosters in 2022.
Who is your hero?
My hero is my Dad, Terry. He has always supported and pushed me to be my best self, whether it’s with rugby league or just life in general. He works so hard to provide for all of children. He runs his own business. I hope he knows his hard work never goes unnoticed. I just strive to make him proud.
What's your favorite movie and why?
White Chicks. It's funny and is a movie I can always watch on repeat. It never disappoints.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Hanging out with my friends, eating, and shopping.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl
Coach Keith Hanley says:
"Maddison is a very strong athletic girl with a fair work ethic".
