It was a very tough afternoon for the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles at a cold and windy Wentworth Park, going down 58-6 to the Sydney Roosters in The Knock On Effect NSW Cup.
The Roosters dominated from the outset and ran in five first half tries to lead 32-6 at half-time before finishing the game with 10 tries. It was Blacktown Workers' biggest loss of the season against the 12th placed Roosters. Blacktown were ninth heading into the game and have now lost their past four games.
In good news for the Sea Eagles, experienced NRL hooker Lachlan Croker played his first game since early May with prop Aaron Woods also returning from injury. Brad Parker also returned to his customary centre position after playing in the back-row all season.
Trailing 12-0 lead after six minutes, Blacktown Workers opened their account through a converted try to five-eighth Jamie Humphreys in the 11th minute.
From there, the Roosters ran in three more tries to take their 26 point lead into half-time.
Unfortunately for Blacktown Workers, the Roosters ran in five second half tries, four of which came within 15 minutes.
The loss sees Blacktown Workers drop to 11th place with four games remaining after next week's bye.
