Sea Eagles sign exciting young half Joey Walsh

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have signed one of the most exciting young playmakers in the country in half Joey Walsh.

A Northern Beaches boy who attends St Augustine’s College, Brookvale, Walsh has signed a three-year deal with the Sea Eagles from 2025.

Walsh hails from the Narraweena Hawks Club in the Manly District Junior Rugby League.

Manly Coach Anthony Seibold said the club had been tracking Walsh for quite some time.

“Joey has been an elite player at schoolboy level. He was the Australian U18s rugby flyhalf and captain last year,’’ Seibold said.

“We wanted to sign what we feel is one of the really elite young playmakers in either code.

“Joey was highly sought after by the Australian Rugby Union and other NRL clubs.

“He played junior rugby league in the Sydney Roosters system, so he has been playing both codes at a high level for a number of years.

“We are very pleased to give Joey an opportunity to come into our squad and to be able to learn from experienced NRL players like Daly Cherry-Evans, Tom Trbojevic and Luke Brooks."
