Sea Eagles bounce back in style in Flegg

A week of some heavy soul searching saw the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles respond in the best way possible in the Jersey Flegg Cup last weekend.

Following a poor effort in losing to Parramatta the previous week, the Sea Eagles came out firing to upset competition leaders Canberra Raiders at 4 Pines Park last Saturday.

Winger Nepote Taufa crossed for a double in the win with centre Alton Naiyep and lock Caleb Navale also scoring in the four tries to three victory.

"I was really happy with the bounce back performance, especially with the way we played with the ball,'' said Manly Coach Scott Kenna.

"The energy and excitement the SG Ball players brought into the team was very pleasing and they get their chance again this week to shine."

The win over Canberra sees the Sea Eagles sit ninth on the ladder with four wins from eight matches.

Manly now take on the 11th placed Sharks in a home game at Blacktown on Sunday. They will do it without Navale after the hard working Fijian international was promoted to the NSW Cup team.

"I'm really pleased for Caleb. Although we will miss him, he fully deserves this opportunity after two strong back-to-back performances,'' Kenna added.
