Sea Eagles Pathways Weekend Wrap Up

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles recorded three wins from six games in NSWRL junior representative games played last Saturday.

The Sea Eagles recorded victories in the SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, and the U16s development matches.

Jersey Flegg

Two first half tries to winger Charlie Thompson helped Manly to a 24-6 victory over the Parramatta Eels in round three at New Era Stadium.

Leading 8-6 at half-time, the Sea Eagles clicked into gear in the second half to run in tries to Blake Metcalfe, Devante Mihinui, and Daniel O'Donnell.

It was Manly's second win of the season after breaking through in round two.

SG Ball

Manly recorded their second win of the season with a 36-10 victory over the Balmain Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.

The Sea Eagles ran in seven tries to two after leading 10-4 at half-time. Centre Zachary Karam crossed for two tries with Gabe Stuart, Campbell Munn, Jett Jackson, Khynan Butler, and William Lane also scoring.

Sydney Shield

A strong second half by the home team saw the Manly Leagues Sea Eagles go down 26-10 to Brothers.

The round two match at Parker Street Reserve, Penrith, was a tight contest in the first half, with the Sea Eagles trailing 8-6 at half-time after a try to winger Ashton Kolinisau in the fifth minute.

However, Brothers ran away with the game in the second half with full-back Sam Kelly scoring a late consolation try for the Sea Eagles.

It was Manly Leagues’ first loss of the season following a 26-22 victory over Cabramatta the week before.

It was a tough afternoon for the Sea Eagles U17s women's team with a 44-8 loss to the Sydney Roosters at Brookvale Oval.

Mele-kyannah Toga and Kalolaine Brown crossed for tries for the Sea Eagles, who trailed 18-4 at half-time.

Manly fought gallantly to the very end in a 14-12 loss to the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy in an entertaining U19s women's game at Brookvale.

Both teams demonstrated why they deserve to be in the top four with their brave defence, putting on shot after shot on one another.

Manly's tryscorers were Alianna Tonuu and Tahlee Maroney.

After being denied an early try, the Roosters crossed after second-rower Aliyah Nasio displayed brute strength to barge over for a 4-0 lead.

Manly hit back three minutes later with some individual brilliance of their own through prop Alianna Tonuu, who took three players with her to slam the ball down next to the posts for a 6-4 scoreline which remained that way to half-time.

Against the run of play, Sea Eagles centre Tehlee Maroney took an interceptpass to score a brilliant try underneath the posts. Halfback Danii Nicole Gray converted to give her side a 12-4 lead after 37 minutes.

Five minutes later, Roosters full-back Tyra Ekepati danced her way through the Manly line for a brilliant 40 metre individual try to leave the visitors trailing 12-10.

The Roosters jumped to a 14-12 lead four minutes later after winger Ashley Ketuu scooped up a loose ball to score in the corner.

Trying to inspire her team, Manly forward Alianna Tonuu barged her way into the backfield only to be stopped by fullback Trya Ekepati 20 metres out from the tryline in what proved to be their best and last chance of trying to regain the lead.

The Sea Eagles dug deep again late in the match but it wasn't to be in a thrilling women's match.
