It’s been another fine and successful season for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles U16 Development team.
Under the guidance of former Manly premiership winning players in Coach Matt Orford and Assistant Coach Jamie Buhrer, the young Sea Eagles head into their final development match on Saturday after another successful season.
The U16s development squad featured 23 local juniors this season, such was the heavy focus on promoting talented young rugby league players from the Manly Warringah District Junior Rugby League.
It has definitely paid off too, with the Sea Eagles beating strong development clubs in St George Dragons 22-0 and Parramatta Eels 16-12. Their only setback was a 20-16 loss to South Sydney.
In the process, the Sea Eagles have unearthed some fine young talent with exciting full-back Oscar Crotty amongst the best and fairest players every week.
“We have a talented squad with five younger players who are eligible for development again next year,’’ Orford said.
“Tom Longland, Jayden Richards and Billy Miller have big futures ahead of them with an abundance of natural talent.
“Manly’s Pathways program has already seen Development players like Cruz Death elevated to Harold Matthews Cup this season.”
The Sea Eagles finish their season with a clash against old rivals North Sydney Bears at 4 Pines Park on Saturday, March 23, at 11.45am.
