Rd 5 Pathways Weekend Wrap Up

It was a mixed weekend of results for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in round five of the NSWRL junior representative competitions.

The Sea Eagles took on the Newcastle Knights in four grades at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground, Kurri Kurri.

Harold Matthews Cup

The Sea Eagles went down 16-6 with winger Logan Tolar scoring the side’s only try in the 32nd minute.

It was tough from the start, with the home side scoring two tries in the first 16 minutes for a 10-0 lead at the break, with their third and final try coming minutes before full-time to seal the win.

SG Ball Cup

In another tough match, Manly were unable to compete with a strong Knights side, with the home team running away 54-14 victors, leaving the Sea Eagles winless.

Hooker William Lane and forwards Apolosi Laiafi and Jarred Williams all scored tries.

Lisa Fiaola Cup

After a decent start to the season with two wins and one loss, Manly slumped to a 44-6 defeat.

Prop Sonaiva Kini-Samuelu crossed for the side’s only try in the opening minute.

Tarsha Gale Cup 

For the second consecutive week, the Sea Eagles recorded a draw, this time a 24-all draw with the Knights.

.The Sea Eagles scored in the opening minute through second-rower Tahlee Maroney, who would go on to grab a second try in the 58th minute to level the scores.

Exciting full -back Krystal Weekes and centre Aleksandra Tunufai continued their fine form as they each scored their fourth try of the season. Halfback Danii Nicole Gray also kept her momentum moving with her third try of the season.
