Training underway for Manly's Harvey Norman Women's team

The first training session has been held for the inaugural Manly Warringah Sea Eagles squad to play in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership in 2024.

With the full squad still to be finalised, a group of very talented players assembled for their first historic training session at the Sydney Academy of Sport at Narrabeen on Tuesday night.

First founded in 2005 and expanded to its current format in 2017, the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership, run by NSWRL, is the only statewide open-age competition for women in NSW.

By fielding a Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team, the Sea Eagles have outlined a clear pathway for female rugby league players after the club competed in the Lisa Fiaola (U17s) and Tarsha Gale (U19s) competitions for the first time in 2023. Manly will again field teams in both of those competitions in 2024.

The Tarsha Gale Cup was the first major step for the club in the creation of a complete Sea Eagles female pathway, with the goal of gaining an NRLW licence in the near future.

Keith Hanley has been appointed coach of Manly’s inaugural Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team.

Hanley has been the Head Coach of the Maori All Stars women’s team for the past three years and also worked at the Wests Tigers.

Nik Wolgramm, an integral member of Manly’s Pathways Football Staff over the last six years, will work alongside Hanley in an Assistant Coach role after demonstrating exceptional skills and commitment as the Sea Eagles coach for the Tarsha Gale Cup team in 2023.
