He’s our inspirational captain on the field and now Daly Cherry-Evans has proved just as big an inspiration off the field.

The popular halfback has been crowned the 2023 Philips Sports Dad of the Year, ending the season on a personal high.

“I’m very proud to win this award,” Daly said.

“It’s been an enjoyable process and having the kids ask me most days if I’ve won has made me happy knowing how much they care and think I’m a great Dad!”

Daly has personally matched the $5,000 prize money being donated to his nominated charity Gotcha4Life Foundation, which will now receive $10,000 to support mental fitness programs that engage, educate and empower local communities.

“I’ve been an ambassador for this charity for several years now and I believe we need to keep spreading the word to help more people work on their mental fitness,” Daly said.

Daly is looking forward to a quality Father’s Day with his family now after finishing the NRL season with a big Manly win over the Wests Tigers on Friday night.

“I’m lucky this Father’s Day as I’ll have my Dad down from Queensland which is really nice,” he said.

“We’ll be going out for breakfast with Mum and Dad and then spreading the love and some time with Vessa’s family later in the day.”
