The opportunity to further build on last week's impressive form will be a driving factor for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles against old rivals Parramatta Eels this Saturday night.
The Sea Eagles tackle the Eels at CommBank Stadium at 5.30pm in round 16 of the Telstra Premiership on a night that will see Parramatta celebrate their four premierships wins in the 1980s.
Manly will be out to record back-to-back wins for the first time since their round seven and eight victories over the Melbourne Storm and Wests Tigers in April.
Recent form
Manly will be looking to bring their sensational form from last Friday’s 58-18 win over the Dolphins at 4 Pines Park on a night that saw the Sea Eagles run in 10 tries.
The 58 points against the Dolphins was the most points Manly have scored in a game since a 66-0 win over the Bulldogs in Round 16, 2021.
The Eels are fresh off a win themselves having beat the Bulldogs 34-12 on Monday.
Both sides will be looking to cement a place in the top eight, with the Sea Eagles sitting in eighth place on 17 points with the Eels one point behind in ninth place.
Team News
The Sea Eagles will be missing fullback Tom Trbojevic and half-back/captain Daly Cherry-Evans due to Origin duty next Wednesday.
Kaeo Weekes returns to the side at full-back with Jakob Arthur playing his second game for Manly after joining the club from Parramatta last month. It will be the first time he has come up against his father in Eels Coach Brad Arthur.
Mitchell Moses and Junior Paulo are on Origin duty for the Eels.
Garrick Hoping to Continue Stellar Form
A 30 point haul against the Dolphins has seen Manly centre Reuben Garrick move into second place for most points scored in the NRL this season.
Garrick scored a hat-trick and kicked nine from 10 goals last week to bring up 900 career points for the Sea Eagles.
Futhermore, Garrick has Garrick has scored 74 points in his past five games against the Eels.
Last Time We Met
Manly’s last win over the Eels came earlier in round three at 4 Pines Park with a tense 34-30 victory.
A double to barnstorming second-rower Haumole Olakau’atu in the final 12 minutes edged the Sea Eagles was enough to get the Sea Eagles home.
Recent History
Parramatta have won two of the past three games against Manly since the re-opening of their new stadium in 2019.
Manly’s single victory over the Eels at Parramatta came in Round 11, 2021, with a comfortable 28-6 win on a day that saw Brad Parker score two tries.
