Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles will be looking to continue their fine form of late in Newcastle this Sunday in round 13 of the NSW Cup.
The Sea Eagles recorded a gritty 19-12 victory over the Canberra Raiders last Sunday in a performance that delighted Coach Greg Boulous.
Locked at 6-all at half-time, second half tries from Brad Abbey and Clayton Faulalo saw Blacktown in control before a late try to Canberra halfback Brad Schneider made for a nervous finish.
Half-back Jamie Humphreys showed his composure with a field goal in the 77th minute to get Blacktown Workers home.
"Canberra is a tough road trip and we really worked hard on our defence,'' Boulous said.
"We kept turning them away and only allowed them 12 points to come away with the win.
“Our ability to close it out with a couple of minutes to go was really pleasing. Hopefully we can continue on our winning ways.”
The Knights sit on the bottom of the ladder with just one win and a bye with their last win coming in round three.
.Blacktown have seen a shift in results over the last month, winning two matches and drawing the other off the back of their bye in Round 9.
The results have seen Blacktown move up to seventh place on 13 points, level with the Eels and just one point behind sixth-placed Panthers.
The Sea Eagles and the Knights have faced off already this season, having met in Round 5 at Blacktown, with Blacktown claiming a comfortable 36-6 victory.
After holding a 12-6 lead at the break, the Sea Eagles showed no mercy as they went on to score four tries in a 20-minute period to shut out the match.
Winger Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega and second-rower Josh Stuckey scored two tries each in the win.
The NSW Cup fixture is the second of three matches at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday May 28, kicking off at 1.35pm.
