Reuben Garrick has certainly built an impressive list of achievements since making his NRL debut for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in 2019.
Garrick will play his 100th NRL/Club game for the Sea Eagles when he lines up against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at 4 Pines Park on Sunday.
Contracted to Manly until the end of the 2027 season, Garrick has become an important player at the Sea Eagles with his ability to play full-back, wing and centre, as well as being one of the NRL’s best goal-kickers.
Highly respected by team-mates and officials alike, Garrick is a very professional athlete who has become a natural leader amongst his Sea Eagles team-mates since making his NRL debut against the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval in round one, 2019.
Ahead of Sunday’s century milestone, Garrick has scored 850 points for Manly through 58 tries and 309 goals in 99 games. He has a goal kicking rate of 77.64% and, more often than not, converts four points into six.
Garrick’s superb efforts to date now sees him sitting in sixth place on Manly's record list for most points scored for the club, a remarkable achievement considering the Sea Eagles have used 644 players since their beginnings in 1947.
A record breaking 2021 season saw Garrick’s stocks rise as a player in what was a phenomenal third season at Manly.
There is no doubt that the extraordinary form of Dally M Medallist Tom Trbojevic that year certainly helped Garrick achieve his feats.
In finishing as the NRL’s Top Point Scorer and Dally M Winger of the Year, Garrick set a new Manly club record for 'Most Points in a Season' with 334 points.
His 23 tries and 121 goals from 27 games saw him surpass the great Matthew Ridge's total of 257 points set in 1995.
Garrick also became the first player in rugby league to score 20 tries and 100 goals in a premiership season with his feats of 2021.
Along the way, he broke the all-time record for most points by a player in the NRL regular season, beating Hazem El Masri’s record of 288 points set in 2004.
Furthermore, Garrick shares the record of most points in a match for Manly with 30 alongside Ron Rowles and Ridge. Rugby league tries went from being worth three points to four in 1983.
There have been some wonderful moments, too, along the way. Be it a spectacular dive for a try in the corner, a great sideline conversion, or his incredible run from his own in-goal line to set up the 2021 NRL try of the year against the Cowboys, there's been so many already.
And of course, his incredible four try haul against the Gold Coast in 2021 that saw him join a long list of players to have scored that many in a match for Manly. It just goes on!
As a clubman, Garrick is certainly right up there. Well-spoken and incredibly dedicated, the 25-year-old conducts himself in the highest order, be it dealing with fans, sponsors, or media.
And for all of his success in such a short time, Garrick remains as humble as the day he first arrived at Manly looking for an opportunity after being unwanted at St George-Illawarra. It's a true testament to the quality young man that he is.
Happy 100th 'Reubs'. May there be many more great moments ahead!
