Classy young half Jamie Humphreys made a very successful return from injury in steering the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to their first Jersey Flegg Cup win for 2023 last Sunday.
Humphreys was playing his first premiership game this season after suffering a broken jaw during a contact drill at training in preparation for Manly's opening NRL trial match in February.
Playing at five-eighth against Newcastle, Humphreys crossed for two tries, including the match winner, and kicked four goals for a personal haul of 16 points.
Humphreys produced a classic show and go to crash over next to the posts in the opening minutes. He then dived on a loose pass from a desperate Knights player to score his second to give the Sea Eagles the lead and eventually the match.
The Sea Eagles showed tremendous fighting spirit in their 24-18 win after trailing 18-6 at the break.
They will be looking to carry that momentum into this Saturday's clash against the Panthers at Penrith, who go into their home match on the back of a strong 28-6 win over the Canberra Raiders.
The Sea Eagles sit in 11th place with the Panthers in fourth position. Kick-off 1.35pm.
