Positive signs for Jersey Flegg after tough month

It has been a tough opening month for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

But the good news is that despite four straight losses to open the season, Coach Adam McEwen can see plenty of light at the end of the tunnel for the Sea Eagles.

“I’m really encouraged by improvements I’ve seen in the team,’’ McEwen said.

“Already this year, our team has faced adversity and injuries in games but we have continued to compete.

“Some of our play is now starting to match our effort. With improved discipline with the ball and some stability around the team, we will start to win some games.”

Manly take on the Newcastle Knights at HE Laybutt Field, Blacktown, on Sunday, April 2, at 1pm, on the back of a frustrating 25-22 loss to Souths last week.

“I was really excited by the performances of centre Koby Douglas and lock Caleb Navale against Souths,’’ McEwen added.

“We are also expecting to have half-back Jamie Humphreys back from injury for his first game this year against the Knights. I’m really looking forward to this week’s match.”
