Sea Eagles looking for more resilience against Souths

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles Coach Adam McEwen wants his team to show more ‘resilience’ after a tough opening few weeks in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

The Sea Eagles have lost their opening three matches to Canterbury (36-24), Melbourne (34-20) and Parramatta (22-16) as they head into a round four clash against South Sydney at Accor Stadium this Saturday.

Manly held a 12-6 lead against Parramatta before the visitors broke clear at the hour-mark to go on and claim victory at Blacktown last Friday night.

South Sydney are one from three matches this year after a 24-6 defeat to the Sharks in round one and a 30-20 defeat to the Roosters last round. Their only win came in round two with a 17-16 victory over Penrith.

“There were encouraging signs with some of the good things we did against Parramatta. We just have to learn to stay in the fight for longer periods,’’ McEwen said.

“We’re looking for a more resilient performance for the entire match against Souths.”

The Sea Eagles will be boosted by the return of exciting goal-kicking half-back Jamie Humphreys after suffering a broken jaw at NRL training.

The Round four clash kicks off at 5pm as the curtain-raiser before the NRL match at 7.35pm. See the Sea Eagles team here
