Jamie Humphreys suffers broken jaw at training

Promising Manly Warringah Sea Eagles half-back Jamie Humphreys suffered a broken jaw injury at training on Tuesday night.

The injury occurred during a contact drill at training in preparation for Friday night's trial match against South Sydney in Gosford. He was named at half to play alongside five-eighth Cooper Johns.

Humphreys is expected to be out for six weeks. He will undergo surgery today.

Sea Eagles Coach Anthony Seibold said it was a disappointing blow for Humphreys after such an impressive pre-season.

“Jamie is one of our hardest workers. He is somebody that we have got high hopes for going forward,’’ Seibold said.

“He has shown really strong progression and probably has been one of the top three consistent performers from a physical training perspective.

“The area now for him to grow is his game management as a key positional player and to learn the attributes that a good half-back has in the NRL.

“I’m really pleased with how he attacked the pre-season. He has shown a lot of dependability.”
