Sea Eagles supporters can enjoy a fascinating insight into one of the game’s finest wingers in former Manly and Australian star Kerry Boustead.

Boustead, who played 65 games for the Sea Eagles from 1983-86, has opened up about his remarkable life in a booked titled ‘Bowie – The Kerry Boustead Story’, written by Murray Barnett.

The electrifying winger scored 30 tries for the Sea Eagles and quickly became one of Manly’s favourite sons. He was the Dally M Winger of the Year in his first season at the Sea Eagles.

Kerry’s a class player from top to toe. I rate him the best defensive winger the game has ever seen and I don’t know of any player who has got past him. In attack, I’d rate him in the top three I’ve known and would have to rank him among the all-time greats

Bob Fulton on Kerry Boustead

In the history of Australian rugby league, Boustead’s story is unique. After a mere handful of games playing A Grade in the Innisfail competition in North Queensland, he was representing Queensland and Australia with distinction, like he was born to be on the biggest stage.

At the time of his selection, he was the youngest player ever to be chosen to represent Australia. Boustead played 25 Tests for Australia.

Furthermore, he is also the only player ever to score a hat-trick of tries for both Queensland and New South Wales.

Boustead is today an NRL Hall of Fame member.
