There was an air of excitement, raw energy and enthusiasm at the inaugural Sea Eagles Tarsha Gale Cup women's workshop at Brookvale on Saturday.
One by one, girls aged from 15 to 19, made their way into the Sea Eagles Centre of Excellence with their proud parents, all full of hope and optimism for the incredible journey ahead as part of a new women’s rugby league program at Manly.
The Wellbeing and Education Workshop brought together a selected group of players from Manly’s first Tarsha Gale Cup U19s women’s squad as well as the Sea Eagles junior women’s development squad comprising of U15/U16 girls.
The Tarsha Gale Cup is the first major step for the club in the creation of a complete Sea Eagles female pathway, with the goal of gaining an NRLW licence.
Saturday’s workshop saw the group briefed on the NRL’s Code of Conduct, anti-doping rules, concussion, to education/wellbeing programs being run by the Sea Eagles.
The girls were also taken on a tour of the Centre of Excellence and the state of the art facilities for players.
Lachlan Croker, the Sea Eagles’ 2022 Player of the Year’, attended the workshop through his role as the Club’s Education Ambassador, where he also shared with the players his own rugby league journey.
The Sea Eagles are currently finalising their Tarsha Gale Cup squad for 2023 ahead of trial matches in January.
