The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles received this letter of support from proud Member, Gavin Dinsdale.
A long-time Member who frequently travelled to interstate and overseas matches, Gavin wrote to the Club following the NRL's decision to suspend the Telstra Premiership competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Dear Sea Eagles
First and foremost, thank you for the update (from Manly CEO Stephen Humphreys) and all that the Club did as a whole to try and keep the competition running along with the other 15 Clubs.
I know the decision by the NRL and the Clubs was taken to ensure the safety of all during this current crisis.
We have, as a Club, faced many challenges from the early days when the Club was formed to the Super League debacle, our merger with Norths post Super League, to our return to the competition on our own two feet after the sad failure of the joint venture.
Whilst they were tough, I think this challenge is one that can only be met and overcome with the NRL/Owners/Clubs/Members and fans working together, despite our rivalries on the field.
For me, the choice is simple. I will not be wanting or asking to cancel or defer my Manly membership. I also remain committed to renewing it for the 2021 season and beyond. It goes without saying, I am Manly ‘through and through’.
I look forward to receiving updates from the Manly Club and the NRL as we progress through this crisis. I especially look forward to the day the Sea Eagles team runs back onto Lottoland, whenever that maybe.
My best wishes to all the management, staff and players that have, and will be, affected by this news. I am sure the Club will do all that it can to assist them where possible.
