The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles NYC side have been defeated by the Canberra Raiders 38-14 at GIO Stadium.
The Sea Eagles started the game well with a short kick by half-back Cade Cust resulting in winger Tevita Funa leaping high to score out wide. Hutana Coffin failed to nail the attempt for a 4-0 lead after 8 minutes.
The Raiders drew level in the 17th minute when second-rower Jack Williams steamrolled over a few defenders to score near the posts. Captain and hooker Zac Woolford converted for a 6-4 lead.
The Manly defence then collapsed with the Raiders racing to a 22-4 lead at half-time following successive tries to Jack Hickson, Nick Cotric and Harry Van Dartel.
Second Half
The Raiders extended their lead to 26-4 when Van Dartel scored his second try before the Sea Eagles pulled one back when winger Lucas Price found open space to score. Coffin failed to convert try to leave Manly trailing 26-8 after 51 minutes.
Darcy Cox bustled his way over to pull a try back for the Sea Eagles which was easily converted by Hutana Coffin.
Further tries to Canberra from Thomas Cronan and Zeik Foster secured the win for the young Raiders side.
