Sea Eagles prop Siosaia Vave says facing the Brisbane Broncos in front of a full Suncorp Stadium on Saturday will be like playing his second Test match in a week.
He will be backing up against the team sitting equal first on the NRL ladder after playing for Tonga in Saturday night’s bruising encounter with Samoa at Pirtek Stadium.
“There were 120kg blokes running straight at each other all game and pride is on the line when you play your rival nations,” Vave said.
“Coming into this game against the Broncos it’s going to zap some kind of energy but, at the same time, you have to get up for these games because there will be a packed house up there.”
Vave said the Broncos’ game would be the opportunity to test himself against the best of the best.
“They have blokes like Adam Blair and Josh McGuire who are playing really good footy — it’s literally going into another Test against another team,” Vave said.
“They are great players and these are the games you really get up for.”
Vave said the biggest thing would be for the Sea Eagles pack to work together.
“It’s not a personal thing, it’s more about the team than me,” Vave said.
He said Manly had the firepower up front to match it with the star-studded Broncos forwards.
“We can roll through the middle as well ... I reckon that’s where we can get them,” Vave said.
He was proud to have played in Saturday’s big Polynesian showdown.
“It was really good to give to our country of heritage,” Vave said.
