Warringah Council and the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are pleased to announce that an agreement on a lease for Brookvale Oval for the 2016 NRL season will be considered at Warringah’s Council meeting, tomorrow night, Tuesday 16 February, at 6pm.
Council Staff is recommending the agreement be accepted.
Mayor of Warringah, Michael Regan said; “I couldn’t be happier. This is a win win win - for ratepayers, fans and the mighty Sea Eagles.”
Sea Eagles CEO Joe Kelly said: “It was absolutely essential that we had immediate certainty for our Members, Sponsors and army of fans prior to the looming kick-off of the 2016 NRL season against the Bulldogs on Friday 4 March. We never contemplated going away from Brookvale Oval after 70 years at the Fortress. We are now hopeful that Councillors will accept this proposal tomorrow evening.”
The Club is still calling on its supporters to attend the important public meeting at Warringah Council tomorrow night at 6pm, at Civic Centre, 725 Pittwater Road, Dee Why.
People who have booked in to speak at the meeting on this issue should proceed as normal.
Mr Kelly urges supporters to wear their team colours at the meeting to help ensure the Sea Eagles always remain at their spiritual home.
The Club wholeheartedly thanks its Members and fans for all of their positive support throughout the ‘Fortress Brookie’ campaign.
