Fresh from Wednesday night’s epic State of Origin clash, Suncorp Stadium is set to host its second blockbuster in the space of five days as the Sea Eagles travel north to take on the Broncos.

After winning ugly against Newcastle in round 10, the second placed Sea Eagles will look to turn things around in a bid to record their fifth straight win against the Brisbane side.

The Broncos are coming off two gritty victories against the Cowboys and Tigers and will look to climb further up the ladder as they battle through the Origin period.

The Sea Eagles have a good track record in Brisbane, having won six of their past seven matches against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

They’ve also won nine of their past 11 matches against the Broncos overall, including the last four.

“I like playing up there, it’s a great spectacle for the fans and also for the players, it’s a great ground,” fullback Brett Stewart said.

The Sea Eagles welcome back two of their stars for Sunday’s clash, with captain Jamie Lyon and five-eighth Kieran Foran set to make their return from knee injuries.

Foran will make his first appearance since round seven, while Lyon returns to the side after a month on the sideline.

Daly Cherry-Evans has been ruled out after succumbing to a knee injury sustained in Wednesday night’s State of Origin clash at Suncorp.

Star second rower Anthony Watmough remains hopeful of playing a part this Sunday, despite re-injuring his left arm on Wednesday. He will be given up until kick off to prove his fitness.

Broncos centre Justin Hodges has been ruled out with an ankle injury, but they will welcome the return of forward Sam Thaiday.
