Christmas came early for more than 300 primary school students who were ready to try their hand at Rugby League for an afternoon.

Last week, NRL Developments officers took Manly Warringah Sea Eagles players to 16 schools over four days as part of an exciting new recruitment program.

Typically an off-season for the Junior League clubs, students were invited to Come and Try
clinics in partnership with local Junior League clubs and NRL players from the Sea Eagles.

The program has helped generate a huge buzz for the upcoming 2014 Junior League season with nearly all the 300 students who participated having never played rugby league before.

There was a fun mix of Rugby League based drills and some team games, with nearly all participants going home with free giveaways from the NRL and their local Junior League club, as well some lifelong memories of a fun afternoon with some of their NRL idols.

It is extremely promising for Junior League numbers in the area, as we look towards another big 2014 season.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from the NRL Development team at the Sea Eagles.
