Second-rower Anthony Watmough will leave the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles with immediate effect after a request to be released from the final year of his contract in 2015 was granted today.
Head Coach Geoff Toovey said: “Anthony is a local junior, a two-time premiership winner and a life-member of the Club. I’m disappointed to lose a quality player such as Anthony Watmough.”
“He has been an integral part of the success here at Manly for many years.
“We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his service to the Sea Eagles.”
Watmough made 20 appearances for the Sea Eagles this season, with his last match coming against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the qualifying final at Allianz Stadium.
Watmough played eight matches for the Northern Eagles in 2002 before playing 278 times for the Sea Eagles. He was a member of the Club’s 2008 and 2011 grand final-winning teams, represented New South Wales on 14 occasions and the Australian Kangaroos 16 times.
